Hi there!
I’m Alex, the photographer behind The Photo Bear: a creative inspired by nature (conifer scent particularly) and sunrises, a dreamer happiest while playing in fresh snow, an explorer of mountain paths. I am based in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, but take great joy in discovering new corners too.
The Photo Bear emerged from my wish to capture our connection with nature and a sense of a somehow quiet adventure in the wild. And I started using photography to do so.

Me as a photographer:
I most enjoy shooting film on my 50 year old analogue camera, an original Olympus OM-1.
I value handcraft, which is why I develop black and white films myself (where possible using natural developers instead of standard chemicals).
I am passionate about developing both film and paper in the dark room. My favourite pictures at home have never left the analogue world.
All fine art prints catch life in the Garmisch studio. Composition, paper choice, printing and trimming - all done by myself.
Every project is unique and tailored in approach, materials and deliverables to you and your vision.
